Across the Plains with Dr. William Smedley

Recreating the Journey from Omaha to Oregon

In 1862, William Smedley, a twenty-six year-old school teacher originally from West Chester, Pennsylvania, embarked from Illinois on one of his life’s greatest adventures. Nearly 160 years later his Great Great Grandchildren are recreating this journey to connect with their heritage.

We ended our journey with hugs from our Oregon family at Silver Falls State Park and Carabella

Silver Falls State Park. Just a few miles from the end of the journey for William.
Our journey is nearly over as well. A remarkable time with Team Agnes and Team Clyde on the road.

Mt Hood as we circumnavigated it, on a similar trail that William did. His final climb of the trip.

Oregon......we made it.

Shoshone Falls was a wonderful bypass on the Snake River today. It's unsure if William was able to see this beautiful waterfall or not, but we are sure glad we did.
