We Lost Two

“Glad as we were to be advancing on our journey, yet those words brought to our hearts a feeling of sadness akin to that of parting with a near and dear friend.” - William Smedley, Across the Plains

The Red Hills near Casper is where William took leave of the North Platte River that he and Culp had followed ever since Omaha. Today we had to part ways with Jimmy and Sarah as they headed down to the Smedley Cabin in Estes Park (that one building could fill history books). Luckily our drop in numbers was not due to dysentery or cholera.

Also, despite our best efforts to cover rising gas prices by panning for gold, we came up short. Join us tomorrow as we drive across Idaho and make our way into Oregon!
